There are all kinds of ways to include a Tweet on your site. Some common ways to put a Tweet on your site are to simply embed a link or if you’d like a little more visual pop to also include a screen grab – and those are fine methods but sometimes you want a little bit more.

I’m talking about embedding an actual Tweet on to your site – interactivity and all! Here is a great way to do that. This is a Tweet that @LadyGaga sent out – notice how all the links are live and the original background is also included:

Here is another one from yours turly @davidgadarian:

So how did I manage to make that happen on my site? It all started a while back when Twitter announced a feature called Blackbird Pie which has since been “disappeared” and been replaced by this nice page directing you to a few of Twitter’s best suggestions for “Embedding A Tweet On A Blog Post” So What is Blackbird Pie?

“Twitter Blackbird Pie is a method of displaying tweets as rich full content rather than as just simple URLs or images. With Blackbird Pie Twitter, hashtags link to search pages and usernames link to twitter profiles. An individual tweet, or pie, includes all the details, design, and information that a single tweet page would include.”

Assuming you are using WordPress, the next step is to install a plugin called Twitter Blackbird Pie WordPress Plugin (there are a few to WordPress plugins to choose from but as Twitter links directly to this one, this is the one you should probably use).

The plugin will take care of the rest of it for you – all you need to do is select your Tweet and either surround the selected Tweet with a shortcode if you are in HTML mode.

If you prefer the visual editor the plugin ads an easy button to help the process along – here is screen grab for you to review.

If you are not using WordPress there are also a number of other nice alternative that Twitter has provided to help you get the exact same results.

And there you have it. Super easy, and super good looking! Have fun with this and go ahead an wow the socks off of all your website visitors!
