Finding Time to Blog When Trying to Find Time to Run Your Business
Making time for your blog can be a real challenge for many business owners, particularly if you are wearing a lot of hats. I get it. I hear it often. In fact I even get paid to solve this very issue. So I have a few thoughts on the subject of how to find time to blog when you are trying to find time to run your business.
Use Your Time More Effectively
Now let's just say that you are really serious about starting to blog. I'm going to make a suggestion here and that is to also use some of your time to head online to learn how to make better use of your time. The lifetime value of being able to use your time more effectively is huge. On its own this is a worthwhile effort for any business. When we're talking being more effective in terms of blogging this idea is also true. Here are a couple of tips to help increase your blogging efficiency:


Right now I'm working with an architect as a new client - my role is to help guide him through the process. One of the early task I have been concentrating on is focused on research. We're looking at all kinds of things, but in particular we're looking at what other architects are doing.And that brings me to the point of this post. As I was reviewing one site I commented to my client that while a particular attribute might be interesting, unfortunately from a web usability perspective it was problematic because the site owner had completely broken away from standard convention in such a dramatic way that it was actually hard to achieve the goal of this particular page (in the case of this page it was to click on something.)
Classic blogging decision. Someone else is killing it so you decide to do the same thing. If it seems to be working for them then clearly you should be doing it too.The truth is what they are doing might a great decision for their business, but not necessarily the right decision for yours. Then again, maybe they aren't even doing the right thing for their own business in which case copying their strategy would be even more foolish.We've all been there.
